The Works: A Writers’ Salon (2009-2011)

“The Works” filled a gap in the Twin Cities writing scene by providing a congenial, non-competitive atmosphere for discussing the art of writing, in which writers from Todd Boss to Maria Damon and Brian Teare to Steve Healey discussed ideas ranging from alternatives to the traditional literary reading to specific craft issues to critiques of the writing business.

As founder and curator, I selected writers, helped to develop presentations, publicized events, handled relations with our venue (the Bryant-Lake Bowl), hosted the evening, and dealt with finances.

Thanks to everyone who participated, and thanks to the Bowl for hosting!
